make their car break down and offer to fix it for them, they will respect your knowlege and what youre doing for them, and then they wont have anything against you when you work on your own car.

Aircraft stripper works wonders if you've got a grudge with your neighbors.
Burning out in your driveway doesn't sound like the smartest idea though. I probably wouldn't be down with that either.
The most I've ever gotten from my neighbors is bad looks as I've driven by, so I just cruise around in 1st gear at high RPMs and they get the picture.
