Default My new homemade exhaust....many **PICS**

Well for the most part I just finished my new exhaust. Yes I know there are still coat hangers in the pic but I used them when mocking everything up. I will weld in the brackets tomorrow.

Everything is 2.5" except for the bend going over the rear crossmember which is 3"

Anyways I finished my downpipe and installed a flex tube on the end of it.

This is the the bung for my wideband 02 sensor that I had to weld in.

What I thought of the stock exhaust!

Ahh the new flowmaster 50 series muffler

the model number and specs

The exhaust mouted into position

I know I need to go buy some exhaust clamps.... i will do so tomorrow

The muffler is mounted in the same position as one of the stock ones. I was going to put it directly under the spare tire but thought this would be more appropriate due to the heat shields.

I'll order some more mandrel bends so I can finish it to the tail pipes later.

I'd go for a test run but my driveway is like a mud trucks wet dream. I'm lucky i even got the sunfire in there yesterday. The muffler is louder than I thought it would be. It sounds almost exactly like the PT cruiser flowmaster has vids/wavs of on their website. I like it so far.....cant wait to go for a spin and see how much that helped out the turbo!!!!

I love the sound so far but its louder than I want.... I dont need to be harassed for my exhaust.

that flange to the turbo looks warped to ----, is it just the picture? the rest look good, you should just leave the coat hangers and string, then people will know you're a real member of hmt.

Looks good. Where did you get that Flex section? I need one for the downpipe I still have to make.

I'm running a Flowmaster AM perf axleback which is just a 50 series muffler setup to fit a CRX. It's much louder now that I went to 2.5" pipe and gutted my cat. I'm hoping once I'm pushing boost through that it'll mellow out until I really get on it. Then I don't care how loud it is..

That's what I was thinking. It might just be the picture. Nice work.

Your right that flange is fucked up but thats ok because its only used to bolt the downpipe to the flange on the turbo...there is an exhaust donut inbetween.

I actually left the coat hangers and just tidied them up a bit. I beleive the whole setup with the muffler was about $160 maybe at most and took about a whole day to finish. The flex tubing can be found on ebay... This is the same seller and size that i purchased http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2464512291

I put that flex tubing where the stock converter went so I might be able to fool some people if they ask if i have one for legal reasons.

I'm sure it will make a big difference since before I had a cat converter, two mufflers and a resonator of some sort. The smallest point before the cat converter which my downpipe had originally gone into was 1 7/8" so I'm sure this will help out a ton.

I took some pics of my yard, I'll make a new post later and show you why i cant go for a test ride right now.

I ran out of 2.5" mandrels but i had some that were 3". I had planned on originally going 3" instead but figured it was a waste. Anyways i had to step it up to the muffler anyways because it had a 3" inlet.

Oh and yes it seems to have made a big difference...*** dyno results were hard to calculate because I havent driven the car in a long while.
