I just was in a local automotive machine shop.They build primarily high performance V8's and are well respected for there engines.I was getting a quote on machine work and he was asking me what I had for parts etc.They sell eagle,JE,scat etc and i told him about my rods from tuner toys.He asked to see them and after inspecting them he said that they were as good as anything he could have sold me and that i got a smoking deal.Never at any point did he try to push his product line at me or give me any attitude.That is the way you run a business, you help the customer get the best value for there money and I will remain a loyal customer.You should take your engine to another shop as you dont have tp know fuckall about imports to build a engine.I personally am going to assemble the engine myself as I dont believe in paying for anything I can do myself.Tell that guy to go ---- his hat and take your ---- back.Bitch slap his *** to for talking smack about HMT.

buy a torque wrench, valvespring compressor, a book on your motor and a tool kit and your set. take it to the shop to have the machine work done and assemble it your self. and i would lose the block guard all ive heard is overheating nighmares. i would personally fill it if your that worried or just pay out the *** and have it sleeved, but with sleeves high psi will be right up your alley.

yeah all the honda-tech people i know in real life bash hmt all the time...and i'm like "well it taught me everything i know about turbo and setups and how to build a motor right fro boost. and thats the truth. then all the people i know that don't go to honda-tech still bash hmt. "yeah i went to that site, its some bull ----...thats the ghetto way to do it" and i'm like well look at my car...it runs its reliable and its faster then yours

85% of engine builders, painters, welders, ect. feel better about themselves by bashing anything that isn't theirs. Then you have the other 15% that actually have some kind of communication skills.

There's nothing worse than someone who thinks it's only done right if it's thier way. Tell him I said to get fucked.

who's building it? like someone else already said, if you know he's a good builder and you've already agreed to the price he told you, just have him finish the job he started. if he keeps telling you this and that, just be like "look dude, i don't really care what you would have used, this is what i want to use, so please just put it together like i'm paying you to do" and let that be that. that's just how people that work at or that are affiliated with shops are. the reccomend the products that they carry and distribute obviously because there's more money for them that way.

Nothing irritates me more than people who try to make me feel guilty for not buying what they want me to buy.

I've been in the same situation dealing with automotive shops before.

In fact, a similar situation just happend to my step brother. I sold him a fuel pump and some other parts at my cost because he needed them. When he took them to the shop to get installed in his truck they told him that the fuel pump was junk and that if he doesn't buy the OE part from them it is going to be super loud and fail within a few months. (The OE unit they tried to sell him was 5 times more expensive than the part I got him...5 TIMES MORE!!!).

Needless to say he called me up and didn't know what to do because the mechanic was giving him all this ---- for bringing the fuel pump in. I told him to tell the mechanic to install it and if there were any problems we would take care of them no questions asked.

The fuel pump was installed and guess what? Works perfect, no noise at all, and has a warantee just as good as the OE unit.

The mechanic just wanted to make a few hundred bucks by selling the OE part and not installing the part the customer brought in.

I personally wouldn't deal with your engine builder anymore if it were me. I don't like people who question my ability to research and to buy parts that I am comfortable with.

I hope it all works out for you. The automotive business is FULL of people who think they know everything and who feel the need to force their personal oppinions on everyone they come in contact with. I have to put up with it every damn day...

ditch him bro... if he argue's with you about ---- like that when he does a half *** build his going to argue that it wasnt his fault something went wrong... get your parts cut your losses and go to someone who knows how to actually build a engine cost effectively
