in california if you get a ticket for a loud exhaust you can take it to a smog ref that is certified in DB levels and if it passes you get a sticker on your car saying it is a legal exhaust....the thing is you have to get a ticket in order to get it reffed =/

Aren't there like CARB legal exhaust systems that don't have a giant ricer tip and sound like a crotch rocket doing a burn out?

Just get a muffler that isn't quite as loud as the one you have. Cops never mess with me and I run with just a resonator, no muffler, no cat.

dam cops strike again, ya, i know for a fact up here there a little honda happy, u have a muffler or anything done or if its a jap car they get u lol. i have a dc header, full 2.5 and a jdm tunabe exhaust off a jdm clip, no cat res or anything with my ls/vtec, ***** quiet, until mad vtec

i dont get alot of ---- about the exhaust, unless they pull me over for somthin else, like when i dint have a front licence plate. there like is that a moded exhaust, i said does it look like it, there like no. i laughed, it looks kinda stock, but bigger and ----.-lol -blake

goto court, try to get it dropped. When u go in, dont say anything yet, just ask if the officer turned your ticket in on time.. If the judge says he didnt you can have that ticket dropped. Cops have like 1-3 days to turn their tickets in. I had my first ticket dropped when i asked that. But when i got my 2nd one, i forgot to say that, and ended payin a reduced ticket. My friend's mom told me about this, shes the chick that sits right next to the judge.

no. in most us states on the ticket it has to be described as a loud exhaust with a certain decible. the cop has to test it one foot away and at a certain rpms. i know this because ive seen people get pulled for this kinda stuff. if it doesnt have a decible rating on your ticket then in my book it dont count. they have to test it. but you could be right. but most cops simply say its too loud/broken.

I just got my exhaust on Tuesday and I wanted to pass inspection easy so I got a Magnaflow High Flow Cat and Magnaflow High Flow Muffler. Basically they don't do much. You can see right through them. Anyway, my exhaust is pretty loud since it's 3 inch all the way from the cat back and going to be 2.5 - 3 inch downpipe too. I know like shift at around 2250. I got on it of course when I got it back and its pretty loud. Sounds good and deep then around 4000-5000 is starts to buzz. I don't know maybe it IS vtec doing that. Point is I doubt I even get a ticket and they are strick around here. I just cruise slow and my exhaust tip is just the 3 inch steel pipe with 3 inch stainless over it tacked on to look better. No 4.5 inch tip. Looks stock just with a tip bought from Autozone slid over the tailpipe.

only during the end of the month will cops pull that kinda bull ---- around longview......thats why i don't hit the local cruz or street races during the end of the month....don't feel like gettin a ticket cause sparky didn't make his quota yet....any other time of the month and cops could give a ----

I heard that before. We were all hanging out one night and we counted 27ish cops. Don't think they were all different, but still. I rarely see 3 in 1 day. Is that true?

that whole thing is bullshit. if he brought it from a company that sells it legally the muffler is legal. They wouldn't be in business if what they produce is illegal they have a liscense for it. It cracks me up when cops pull that ---- and people believe them
