MOVIE burning guru's,How to Burn a download .avi onto a dvd
I downloaded Mission Impossible 3 and want to put it on a dvd to watch it on my tv.
So how can i convert the .avi file into a file that i can burn onto a dvd?

if you can convert it to an iso file instead, then burn it to the disk using nero(hack needed) as a disk image. much better quality in my opinion. but its easier to just get a iso from a torrent. or you can burn a vcd if your dvd is compatible using nero. as long as the file is less than 700mb. read up on it, there are many different ways you can go around this.

Its 1.3 gig's, but i also downloaded a smaller version thats 700mb, but the only problem is, i burned it as a svcd and another as a vcd but my xbox doesn't play those!
Any programs out there that can convert a avi file to a file i can use to burn ito nto a dvd?

really? it won't read burned dvd's?Thats bullshit! ughh, with the chip, do you have to solder it in or anything? I might as well go buy a damn dvd player i guess. They are cheap anyways, wait wait wait
What about a ps2? will it play svcd or vcd or burned dvd's?

havent tried burned dvds in a ps2 but there are many dvd players that are cheap as hell and read them. this xbox ship if i remember correctly allows for upgradable harddrive and store movies/music/games on the hdd. no solder but you can though. and no the ps2 doesnt read vcds/svcds. got MANY of those lying around. seen many movies from the comfort of my computer screen.....

PS2 plays burned DVDs fine, but not video cds or SVCDs. Are you sure the xbox doesn't read burned DVDs? I don't see why it wouldn't.
There is a program called Cucusoft avi to dvd, that may be just what you were looking for. It's not free, so find a torrent or something.
I don't like that program, so I use Tmpegenc to encode the avi into a dvd compliant mpeg file, and then I use tmpeg dvd author to create the actual files to burn to a dvd.
