Re: move or marines
i think that im going to have a sit down with my dad and discuss my future in the company, and if we cant work anything out where i can phase into control(which i want to do, its a million+ dollar buisness), then im going to join.

ive worked for him for 4 years almost now. ive gotten maybe a 2 dollar raise, im still just a gopher for everyone, do everything. the only ---- im kind of specialized in is hyster forklift repair(ceritfied, but never used), and dock lok and dock leveler repair and maintnence.
my sister, who has no experience in anything but dental hygiene has had a company given to her by my dad and runs her own ---- after maybe 2 years of being upper managment.
my whole life i just wanted to take over his buisness, but im getting the feeling that this is never going to happen and im going to be 35 years old and he will sell the buisness out from under me and then im stuck with 13 or so yrs of experince in "maintenance".
or i can join the marines. kill things, blow ---- up, get room and board. travel. and if i get out hopefully have a nice size nest egg to start my own construction buisness.
down side is i will be definetly infantry, so i could die. or be horribly maimed.
any input from people in the military is greatly appreciated.

While you're at band camp thinkin' the crap can't happen,
Till you ---- around,
Get an anthrax napkin,
Inside a package wrapped in saran Wrap wrapping,
Open the plastic and then you stand back gasping,
------' assassins hijackin' Amtracks crashin,
All this terror America demands action,
Next thing you know you've got Uncle Sam's *** askin'
To join the army or what you'll do for there Navy.
You just a baby,
Gettin' recruited at eighteen,
You're on a plane now,
Eatin their food and their baked beans.
I'm 28 ,
They gon take you 'fore they take me
Crazy insane or insane crazy?
When i say Hussien you say Shady,
My views aint changed still Inhumane,
Wait,
Arraigned two days late,
The date's today,

Re: move or marines
Why not talk to your dad? If you want to buy/run his business in the future, he should know that. He might figure you work there because the job was given to you and you're too lazy to look for another job. If you're not man enough to approach your dad saying you want to some day run his business, you don't deserve the opportunity. If your dad doesn't have enough ***** to tell you honestly one way or the other if he would give you the business, ---- him and move on.

Re: move or marines
i joined the military(ARMY) and i am infantryman( 11B all the way) and its worth it. They feed you , clothe you, give you a roof over your head and they pay you to shoot ---- and blow things up . whats better than that? I think everyone should do it

Re: move or marines
Am i the only military guy that says, "Don't freaken join under no circumstances."
it's all about control with the military. if you feel the need for someone, something, or some ideal to Run your life from cradle to grave, then go ahead and be a sheep of the idealogic militaristic tradition.
if you want a true free advice.
walk your own path.. and make your own journey..
i personally think. you should talk with your dad. ask him what the future holds for you with him. you obviously want to succeed your pops.
but if his goal doesn't involve you in it.. then you better man up and grow the ---- up and survive on your own like all the rest of us are doing.
that doesn't mean join the bandwagon like most teen adolescent right out of high school. <--- that's who i was) now that im out of active duty stuck in the reserves with 6 years under my belt. i can truly say that the military. regardless of branch weather marines, Air force, Aramy, or Navy.. it's bullshit it's all bullshit.
so don't join because you think it's your only other choice.. it isn't.
