Re: Motorcycle engine powered go kart?
alright well I'll be keeping my eyes open for good deals on a bike and a kart.
on the transmission - the motorcycle powered karts haven't needed the clutch except for starting. How do they do down shifting?

Re: Motorcycle engine powered go kart?
We built them in high school, used old VW axles and hubs, full out roll cages, we made a 600 and then a 750, damn those things would still clip along 100+mph, scary as hell tho. My teacher rolled one in the parking lot and got all fucked up, try explaining that to the boss.

What do you guys do with that beam rear axle?
I mean is there some kind of disengagement in the hub? Does the chassis flex and lift the inside rear tire? Or do you just drift through every corner?
That always made me wonder.

Re: Motorcycle engine powered go kart?
Its a 2002 Italkart racing kart, stretched, with front and rear disc brakes (vented rotors), brake bias adjustor, tillet seat, 3 axle bearings, 03 cbr600f4i fuel injected 6 speed, individual air filters, custom header, 2.5" performance muffler, digital guage cluster from the bike showing tach speedo water temp oil press, etc..
if you dont know how it does down shifting then you need to do some more research before y ou build the kart.
And it is hard to make, especially if its your first one. Sure you can extend the kart and mount the motor, but that opens a whole can of worms.
