I've got an old Marlin .22 rifle.

It doesn't have a rear sight and I figured that this would be a good time to get a scope for it. It's got a grooved receiver for a scope mount but I can't find anything for it. I want a red dot sight more than a scope but either one works. I don't want to spend much because I'm not shooting anything important and the gun isn't worth much anyways.

hell i am just using a $25 walmart pellet gun scope on my 22, you dont need anything too fancy for a old 22

yep, just stardard rail mounts

I ask because I picked up a red dot sight and it mounts to a weaver type rail but the rail on my gun is about 1/2 the size of it.

sounds like you will be upgrading your rail

probably just put it on a different gun instead
