btw... when the air force get deployed to iraq, there not on air force bases... my cousin is in the airforce and is on his 2nd tour of duty in iraq, both tours all the airforce guys were on a ARMY base. The airforce guys are seeing combat too, my cuz's unit has had two men killed on a convoy. btw he is security forces. Don't think for one second the air force will be easy, its not. Of course you wont be humping a ruck like us grunts in the army, but you will be busting your ***. In bootcamp your gonna hate you life, I hear airforces bootcamp is easier, but the transition from civilian is a hard one.

Why do you wanna be a freaking civy dammit. The airforce is downsizing, there not even accepting prior service. Sounds like your one of those guys whos gonna get to bootcamp and cry because he misses home and ends up going nuts and getting shipped home. To that one guy who responded from the 82nd airborne...WHATUP dude Im also Airborne.
No, I wouldn't cry because I miss home. That's the reason I joined in the first place, just to get away from my parents bitching at me all the time about how I'm gonna be nothing in life. I think that's the wrong reason. I'm not afraid of the military. I just think I can do better things, that's all.

where you based. yup airborne infantry has to be the worst job you can get well that and marine infantry i worked with alot of them in afganistan and in iraq.

and i said airforce base meaing airbase such as Biap ( bagdad international airport or one of the other 2 or 3 in iraq. and i meant by safe meaning about the only airforce people on the ground in the citys getting shot at are the tac sat operator because they are with the infantry guys kicking it around. take your time and make a wise decision it will directly or inadvertanley change your life forever..

I'm in the air force I've been in for four 1/2 years three in england. I've had ablast I came to get away from family and my home town cause the job market sucked. I was worried to about going but I've had a blast I've been to 2 wars and all over the world and I'm in tacoma WA. Theirs alot of programs to help out when you get in and some good options if you get out after. But the other guy's are right its not for every one. If you need any information on the millitary let me know I can tell you some things they will not. good luck

well you will make almost $15,000 your first year in as a E-1 and you dont have to spend any of that money, can you save $15,000 a year at ur current or future job, i think not. its a good deal i think. what job did you sign up for?

you can go to california montery to be exact for over a year, cause that is were the school is, if you become and airborne criptologic linguist. plus it has the 2nd highest enlistment and reenlistment bonus.

And another thing I'm worried about. I know the pay is shitty, that's why I'm having second thoughts, the recruitor made it sound all good like I was gonna have a nice car and I believed him. I got a 600 dollar car and insurance payment right now, and I'm still financing so I'm gonna have to pay for insurance while I'm away. and I have a few thousand dollars worth of credit card bills. I don't think the military is gonna help eliminate that.

If you are truely going in and you have a good enough test score I would choose a field that has a high enlistment and reenlistment bonuses. The reasoning is you are in more of a demand and probably will earn rank quicker. Also if you choose to reenlist they will offer you more money. And finally it all boils down to MONEY and choose a job you can take in the real world.

iam considering since i can only take 2 college courses at a time because i have no choice but to work. now i barely get by and save no money and have no medical so basically they will give you technical training and college education in the same time it would take to finish a regular degree with no experience which companys dont like these days.
