What kills me is do why have a national white month? What about all the white people that fought for our rights against England? Do we have a national Spanish or Indian or Native American month? How about NAAWP? Where are the White American college funds?

I always thought it was so funny to see films in school or the Black Panthers and their parades and gatherings. Yet eveyone wants to talk about the KKK being bad. The freaking Black Panthers are just as bad. Yet nothing is done because.....wait for it....their BLACK. "African Americans" complain about so much, yet really have everything handed to them. Oh and the whole "African American" crap is totally wrong also. To be a citizen of this country you must denounce their citizenship to any other country. So you can't be African and American...you are either or.

Well I this is already going off-topic, but I'll just stick to stealthmode's first comments. MLK was a badass guy. He was the black peoples' leader and encouraged them to be fight racism by using their heads instead of their fists. If you think about it, if blacks didnt have a leader as powerful as him, it could have gone into a completely different direction.

Blacks would have begun to actually fight back on the whites and that would have resulted in a mini civil war. All the major cities would have been in chaos and their would have been lots of bloodshed.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were actually part of MLK's youth leadership. MLK had his own little possee. Here is a picture of Jesse Jackson w/ MLK one day before the assassination:


Personally, I think that MLK is rolling in his grave right now hating himself for the direction which black people have turned to. If he knew that black leadership would have gone from him, to what it is today, he would have probably jumped off that balcony.

Why couldn't they have shot Jesse Jackson instead of MLK Jr? Hell, shoot Al Sharpton too, MLK was better than both of them combined.

I dont think a man would be respected as much if he was just any old day black dude. He is known around the world for his contributes, not just the U.S. I'm not condoning everything he did, even Rosa Parks said she disagreed to some extent as a black female in the Civil Rights movement with what his points and goals led to. but for the most part, he changed a part of American and worldwide history and even got a damn holiday. His non-violent approach was perhaps respected and disrespected as much as Muhatma Gandhi.....some thought that violence in certain aspects was necessary.

The whole thing with Rosa Parks was planned and built off that one bus ride. She did not refuse to sit in the black area of the bus, but she refused to get up IN HER OWN black area of the bus, when a white man got on the bus and there were no more seats. She was then brutalized and who knows what for her rebellion, but it did instigate the Bus boycott and several other boycotts. She worked somewhat with her own group of civil rights people, somewhat with the NAACP, somewhat with King, somewhat on her own. I think it is her image and her courage perhaps that people like most, rather than what she did.

I'm a History major, so this is all just history. My personal views are somewhat different on the civil rights movement, haha.

On the Black History Month thing, I think people just need to know more about why its there and what it does, just like Affirmative Action. However, I dont see any Native American Holidays coming out anytime soon, or Asian Holidays, and godamn Mexican Holidays, so who knows! I think its Americanized guilt from the past.

My personal opinion on this was that he was a great man, and tried his hardest to promote peace and equality. That was all great, and people stood by him until he was assassinated...

Then slowly but surely, the same people who followed him started to churn up all that hate they had for white people, but didn't show it outwardly.. Instead, they ------ it at home and let their kids make what they wanted of it.

But till I die, I will never understand why black people so loosely use the word "*****", but defend themselves if it falls out of the mouth of any other race.. ----, if you call your mom, dad, uncle, pastor, etc "*****" how can it be a word that you have to defend when a white person says it?

Blacks around me since I have grown up have had STRONG double standards which they themselves have created. They always complain that they can't get a good job, but aren't willing to change their ghetto attitudes and speak like they have sense when they try to find a job. This usually ends with them working at a fast food resaurant and complaining that white people hold them down, and that racisim isn't dead... Give me a break.

In the neighborhoods I grew up in, the people only aspired to be drug dealers, rappers, and sports players. They never stopped to think that a) drug dealers are bad people, get caught, and live shitty lives, b) NONE OF THEM CAN ACTUALLY RAP, and c) They suck at sports compared to the neighborhoods across town, how could they possibly play professionally?

I could go on about how blacks have influenced me, but the truth is, if it werent for my personality, many of the blacks I have been involved with since childhood would only have lead me to become racist. Its bullshit when your friends mom lets all the black boys in and sends the "cracker" home. To this day when I see that women I just laugh and go about my business with the thought that she brings the racism around her upon herself........................................... ...... As do many I know.

PS: This is my opinion based on where I grew up and will most definately differ from some of your own experiences.
