i also had questions on reliability .... cuz i have read many threads that they are not reliable....why is that what part of it isnt reliableweak bottom end..well im currently getting a b16 head with all b17 cams and valvetrain and ls bottom end with pr3 pistons and rods....would it be reliable as any other LMK thanks

ill be hitting 9000k on my LS-vtec and its seen nothing but boost from day one.
As the rest of the guys have said, as long as its built correctly, it will be fine. And yes they do move good under boost.
ppl forget that the LS oil pumps tends to have a little less flow compared to a vtec oil pump. make sure you put a b16,gsr, type r or B20 oil pump on and you will be fine..
also as others have said, run the B16 over the gsr head. Its a better flowing head and easier to find aftermarket intake manifolds for and you dont have to worry about the secondary butterflies.

GSR has a better intake port entry, drops straight down onto the valves. Squared combustion chamber, with actual honest to god useable QUENCH PADS!!11. So, even if the head flow is 0.0000000001% OMG JDM LESS, the actual head itself performs better. Which is why you should definitely get a B16 head, they are more JDM.

the truth of the matter is... B18C1 (GSR) head's do infact flow BETTER than a B16. It's just that the only intake manifold you can run on a GSR head is the GSR intake manifold, which infact suck's compared to the B16's. The GSR has larger ports and in some cases better cams, however the B16 intake mani. has a better design... that's why GSR's make good torque(a trend seems to be that the gay'r the flow, the better the torque. The better the flow, the better the HP.)and the B16 is a Top End screamer! If you do an ls/vtec and use the factory rod's, put in ARP rod bolts. ARP head studs are a must, and DEFINATELY a VTEC oil pump, or as mention'd that of a B20's(as a side note, I'm not 'sure' about this but I believe if you ask a Honda Technician, any B18 from 96+ flowed the same psi as a B16/B18C/B20 models oil pump's....... Moral of the story, don't be a cheap bastard and it should last a while!

Well, if you want misaligned ports, you can run Skank2. AEBS Typhoon is $160-170 if you look around, and has the correct port entry. Edelbrock. Buncha custom sheet metal one-off racer types units. So... can only run GSR mani?

I bet the reason why everyone says that they are unreliable is because the person doing the work sucks ***** at doing engine work. My guess is that it was their first time rebuilding an engine and didn't do everything they should have. Thats why ls/vtec's have a bad rep. My point is how many engines did they build before this. If you do everything by the book I think that you should be fine.
