Muckman is correct, the engine is always accelerating at max load no matter which gear you are in.

I'm not argueing, I'm curious.
If engine is always at max load no matter the gear, why does my aem show higher load while at WOT in say 2nd or 3rd than in 1st? Also why is there a difference in AFR's between gears with a properly set up boost comp. map?

That would depend on your turbo setup. Most larger turbos would not have enough exhaust gases to allow a consistent full spool at 1st or 2nd gear. This would show lesser "engine load" on the AEM parameter. On a small turbo like GT28RS, all gear reaches the same max load, including very similar VE and boost comp maps.

Maybe because boost comping a map, instead of tuning it correctly, is a filthy ------- hackjob.

Or at least that's what Ben Strader says, I've only played around with an early AEM once, a couple years ago.

Funny, because I was banned from HT under my full name (not initialed first name) for criticizing St00pid for almost causing a pileup on some major TX interstate when streetracing a 911 during rush hour traffic.

I ------- LOVE some streetracing, but there is such a thing as a time and a place.
