A Z06 vette is quite a machine and there's no hush hush about it, but I'd rather have a 427 shelby cobra. Think about 450 hp (no mods) in a 2200 lb car.

Divide the weight of the car by the HP, and that will tell you the lbs per each horse. Then apply gear ratios... For example:

A 427 Shelby Cobra that has 450hp and weighs 2200 lbs will have just below 5 lbs / HP. That's an awesome car.

noshit those cars are badass. thats why they are so rare and are worth so much. even the damn kit cars are 40+ grand.

427s are race engines pure and simple. very nice platform for a pro street dragster.

but the new vette race engines 427ci ls6. rev to the sky and put out a lot of hp. but of course there is more room for improvement on a big block.

you can build one for less than 20k from factory five. I'm seriously going to consider that one day. They are a fine looking car too.

http://www.factoryfive.com/

You buy the kit, then you get a 5.0 mustang donor. So it's a cobra, but with a 302. But, you can always modify a 302... or drop in a viper v10 505 with that awesome transmisson..

both type of engines V and inline have a place. but the whole reason i like bigger engines, is that they are so nice to cruise in. driving a gutless, even powerful inline engine (turbocharged) sucks, because to go up a hill you have to mash the gas and create boost. or worse yet shift down and mash the gas in a non boosted car to go up a hill. or start from a stoplight.

the reason inline 4cyl engines were ever created is to save gas, not be power plants. but newer v8s are becoming pretty effiecant, eg 405hp 400ft-lbs 19/28mpg

i would definatly agree that 80s camaros are ----. cause they are. everyone knows it. they are underpowered to say the least, lots of emissions controls and bullshit other things. i have no idea why they stop making camaros, but my guess is they will start making them again. i know lots of people like and want them, cause i see about 50 billion of them everyday. to put it this way, i see more 90+ camaros than integras. i see more SS camaros everyday than VTEC integras, no shitting. and this isn't in the BACKWOODS. this is the greater portland area. in the city
The BBS notes that Chevy made was that they are discontinuing them to prototype a new car. Chevy is starting to realize that with the resource consumption at its current rate, and their mass production of SUVs cars like a camaro have to either become more efficient or be discontinued. Look at the Vettes from 2003+ they got a major upgrade in what they are known for (speed) so that consumers who are using gas to power them get every penny worth.

I think that the manufacturers (except Dodge) are starting to realize this.
Look at Ford, you're base model 8 cylinder cars are not very quick - to get a faster one you have to tap into a limited edition line (the Cobras/Saleen). And they are starting to mass produce things like the Focus, and Dodge's new SRT4 Neon.

Its also because of increased pressure to build hydrogen cars; and I think from a profit view since SUVs are so big in sales right now that they are focused on getting more and more of them out before they have to be downgraded and people will stop buying them.

Yes, having ***** under the hood is always nice. But thats just one reason to like them, I bought a Honda because they are really simplistic to wire, and fuel efficient. I decided to go turbo after enrolling in auto-repair courses as a way of trying to get every bit of power out of my lawn mower that I can

And to everyone else...

Anyone who thinks that a smaller engine can beat a larger one is just plain dumb, I mean there never will be a replacement for displacement - If honda produces a larger engine then this whole argument would drop because it would be around the same power rates. They don't because they have a market of consumers who need economical cars - each company has its targeted niche for profits. Because Honda's were so affordable and mass produced many people started after market modifications because the car is readily available, simple to work on, and aftermarket parts are not to harsh on the wallet.

But please, homemadeturbo was designed so that anyone who wanted to avoid paying to much money to get their car 'up there' its neither pro-japanese nor pro-german nor pro-american. Instead of flaming each other, it should be a mutual goal to screw aftermarket manufactuerers for charging to much to gain 5 hp!

With that I will say no more...

This is Stupid. I wouldn't be a member of HomemadeCorvettes and try to tell those guys they are stupid for not fixing up Honda's. Any other topics related to "hick-shifters" should be referred to:
www.iwanttoargueaboutcorvettes.com.

Thank you. And for the record, Im an American and I listen to country music (hick), but I sure didn't join this sight to talk about corvettes.

this is homemadeturbo, not homemadeturbohonda!
you must have forgoten
interesting thing i read on car and driver's supercar challange website.

autoauthority twin turbo 966 porsche, 720 rear wheel HP
road course 56.1
STOCK z06 corvette 405 CRANK hp. 56.9 road course.

amazing? AWD porsche. RWD vette.

i am definalty not hating on hondas or import cars. i like them too. import KIDS get really offending when you tell them the truth. all kids think their car is the fastest in the world.

all of what chacko said is probably true. and thos new turbo neons and svt forcus and other ----, is to try and tap into the import "sports" car market.

Correct me if I am wrong.. but isnt a Olds 442 a 442cu.in. V8?
and about the SRT-4. It's the fastest car on the planet for under $20k US.
