Default a little information about "Street Racing"

Street Racing is ILLEGAL and Dangerous i don't think this topic has been addressed on this forum yet so i might as well start it =)

there are 2 types of STREET RACING

Redlight Street Racing
and Organized Street Racing

Redlight Street Racing occurs when 2 racers line up at a red light and launch on green which makes the traffic light as a "Christmas Tree"
This is the most dangerous type of racing because it occurs on populated streets, weither it is deserted or not there are possible dangers. This is what the mass media focus's on since this has been the most leading cause of death in the Street Racing scene. This is the side that the media, the public, and most wannabe posers, ricerboys know.

Why Redlight Street Racing is Dangerous compared to Organized Racing
a) Most roads, doesn't matter where you are, or what time it is, will ALWAYS have people using it. The chances of a car turning infront of you is far greater and it is usually Residential areas.
b) Since there is more traffic on these roads, the traffic lights aren't very far away from each other. you don't usually get your 1/4 mile out of redlight racing. Which leads to sudden braking and more racing occurs after the Red Light.
c) Police, polices usually roam the streets at night since most criminals like the cover of night to hide their identties in the darkness.. there for Police patrol during the night. There is a higher chance of Police catching those that REDLIGHT Race then Organized.

not well covered but you get the overall idea

Organized racing on the other hand is alot differnt but is still illegal and dangerious

Organized racing is when a group of people meet at a location lets say a coffee shop.. they make the arangements of who's going to run, where they are gonna run, and how to get there. Groups are often broken into little packs... if there are 10 people... the group will be split into 2 or 3 groups.. both will take a seperate way of getting to the aggreed location. This will elude anyone or any groups of following the racers to their spot. Often if followers are detected, they usually head back to the Coffee shop, or to another location to lure them away. usually these races often occur early in the mournings in industrial areas.
On weekends, most factories and warehouses are closed soo there wont' be any type of traffic along these roads. They are secluded from residential areas, any main streets, and are usualyl checked for police, or spectators or possible problems during a race.

procedure usually used
1 car scouts out in front to check for problems, possible dangers, spectators, and police, once it is clear the group comes in... parked FAR from the street they walk to the starting line.. 2 cars are sent out.. 1 to block the road behind the racers.. and one down the street farther down to call incoming traffic, or police, or for emergancies. the 2 cars line up.. a Flagger prepares, drops his/her hands and the race is off... only 2 or 3 races are done and back to the coffee shop to talk about the races.. usually a couple or races occur cause the possible threat of police hearing the loud cars. During Organized Races, Safety is always first. for the spectators and the drivers,

Street Racing is Illegal, And VERY DANGEROUS.. and i'm sure that HMT.COM does not encourage it, but Legal Track Racing.

this is all from experiance, and during these races, no money is ever waged, and these races are only for bragging rights and for fun. usually we race with people we know, and not anyone that we don't know.

i got other stuff too but hey =) if you want more info gimmie a email at bun-knee@rogers.com .. i am just a fan.. my car is too slow and i would never acually race.. i've got lots of stories =) running away from the cops.. talking to cops, losing ricers that follow, scouting, =) it's fun to watch.. but to race... i'll go to the Track for that

DO NOT REDLIGHT STREET RACE... IT IS DANGERIOUS AND PLEASE DON"T DO IT.. FOR YOUR SAFETY AND FOR THOSE AROUND YOU.. THANX =)

heh, I am apart of a pretty large group of illegal "Organized Street Racing" in Wash.. www.racelab.org
we normally race at places you have mentioned... We have been racing on "offdays" such as tuesdays and thursday nights, in the middle of ------- nowhere. So far it has worked out pretty well. I have been to a few of the races, and we have had good turn outs. Most of the people their are not the dumbfucks who are burning out in the "coffee shop parking lots" etc..

As far as stop light racing.. ya I have done it, we all do it. Its dumb, but I hate loosing. I am a pretty cautious driver and know the limits of my car.

street racing almost got me killed, and i almost killed my best friend at the same time. God was looking down on us then. if josh(my roomie and best friend)would have died, i dont know what i would have done. it just doesnt pay. stupidest moment of my short life. i plan on never ever making that mistake again. it was pretty much my first street race ever. i should have known better, actually, i did know better, but i didnt follow my gut instinct to stop accelerating when the turn came. dont street race, you'll thank yourself later. the momentary rush isnt worth your car, someone elses car, or ANYONE"S life. someone else's life isnt something you can take into your own hands.

i call em night drags and they are perfectly fine, unlike red light racing. or point a to point B.

usually have like 400 cars in the summer at the night drags here. but since the cops are allowed to take your license on the spot and impound your car, its slow down ALOT

Jeff, i'd be a bit "anonymous" about racing groups and stuff on messageboards...

Most police, or government agencies monitor any type of Street Racing or even Car modification Forums to try and get information

i stoppped by my old haunting grounds last week =) my friends still there.. and if the race isn't worth it... we wont' go anywhere..

last year was awesome.. we didn't get any snow in toronto till maybe early march.. so we stood outside in the cold since april 2001 till march 2002 =) well summer wasn't cold but that was 1 LONG racing season=)

we had special codes to places we would go like, Hong Kong, or metro, or mid west and etc etc... soo we can talk about it around people and have they not know where it is...

yeah weekdays are cool... late at nite there isn't anyone.. and those industrial streets are baron! but most people work or have school soo friday - sunday is when we do it =)

lucky we all have FRS and a Police scanner.. we are ALWAYS looking out for police and ALWAYS concerned about the safety of others =)

big groups are soo easy to catch.. smaller ones are harder =) and + big groups always have those idiots pumping their subs or doing burn outs or hitting VTEC in reverse or something...
