This is where reading books and real life meet. That rule of thumb is somewhat true but 160 compression on a d series motor isnt that bad and nothing to start screaming omg the JDM engine lords have cursed my soul. I will promise you it has no major issues in that cylinder wall like broken ringlands,leaking or bent valves. 180-190 is very healthy d series. I would run that motor with that compression any day of the week.
It just a worn down cylinder wall which OMG is what 20 year old motors have.
This is where that rule is ------ retarded. Lets say all the cylinders had 140 accross the board now its healthy since their within a certain percentage :1
