I have seen all of those, just don't want to get a shell because there's plenty of totally not running cars by my house. The b16 riced out crx was posted after i came back looking at this one. I'll ask him for some pictures and offer him 1k, if he says no than im getting this one.

just did a little reading
this article states that on cold motor compression should be higher that 160psi at all times.
The motor was super cold at the time of me testing it.

If you cant get the engine running before buying it, I'd look at is a CRX w/ no engine for $1200. Not worth it IMHO.

i'll get that motor to run, convert it to obd1 and run some boost through it.
It will work one way or the other.
i can't really spend a whole day troubleshooting that motor at that guys house. I'll bring new spark plugs and wires with me and hope it starts, if it doesn't then some fuel will need to be taken out.
This is going to be my first CRX and i want to see what 10lbs ZC 2000lbs car feels like.

remove fuel pump plug from the back.. cut off fuel completly.. and use some starter fluid as fuel

remove all the plugs and crank it over till ***** clean then put the new plugs in..

take a friend with ya.. to try to start it while you spray fuel in the tb

umm that trans could be shot motor could be a smoker or a leaker

i wouldnt pay more than 800 for a non running crx

You're banking on it being a good motor and setting yourself up for disappointment.

If it was an easy fix, they would have done it. I wouldn't buy any story they told you.

Call and offer $800 for a non-running CRX & leave your number. Give it a few days. Whats the worst that can happen? You don't pay $1200 for a CRX w/ no engine.

im familiar with the process, it looked like oil was barely seeping through the valve cover gasket, other then that it was clean.

what i normally do is remove the ecu fuse and all plugs, crank the motor for about 15 seconds multiple times somewhere around 5, put new plugs in and put the fuse back in. Worked everytime when I flooded my plugs.

even with those compression readings, the motor should run right when fuel delivery and timing are dead on.

thanks for all of your replies,
as I said before, i'll text the b16 riced our rex first and then take a look at this one again.
I will post back and if I get it to run someone remind me to take a burnout vid.

It sounds like you're impulses are getting the best of you, as well as this guys hard-sale dad. The best thing to do is not call them anymore. If they're hurting they'll call you, and then the ball's in your court. If they don't call, it's better for you.

Look, I don't wear an extra large sized hat or anything, but this isn't opinion. This is fact.

I paid $2k for a bone-stock, oxidation-free, rice-less 1990 CRX SI.

Doesn't sound too horrible to me, but doesn't sound like a good deal if it doesn't run.

If it was just spark plugs he would spend 5 bucks and 5 minutes and sell it for more. In reality the car has major issues and your buying a headache.

Never belief the ads that claim all it needs is spark plugs and it will be perfect. The compression #'s arent bad but it is a 20 year old motor so its expected.
