I was wonder if anyone used the metal patch stuff from the auto stores?

curious about this too... my 86 Accord DD has a couples holes a ways up on the filler neck and apparently gas eats JB Weld too... nothing like standing out in the freezing cold for 5 minutes to pump $15 in gas really slow

I used permatex "jb weld" on my gastank.. the vent tube was rotted off. Put a new piece of metal in for the tube and JB'd it in... worked like a charm.

If you have a pinhole, make a small patch piece that covers the area out of steel. then prep the area down to bare CLEAN metal, scratch the surface and make it rough so the permatex can bond properly (on your patch piece too) then brake clean it to remove any grease or anything else. Apply your goop and let it dry.

The only thing is you have to let it set for at least 16 hours. if it's still not set and you get gas on it, it will melt through it for sure.

Go to Napa, ask for this. Used it a bunch back in the moped days and never had any issues.

damn i thought you were talking about a pin sized hole in your exhaust. i just fixed one for my friends girl not even an hour ago. Just stuck a screw in it for filler metal and welded it up. She is a dumbass, pealed her inspection sticker off while the guy was inspecting it and then failed it. And the shop closed at 6 so she was in a big hurry to get it fixed.
