At first, after the surgery the docs told me "you'll be running 100% again in 3 months" -then I just went back 2 weeks ago "ahh...yeah....i dont know who told you 3 months...i wouldnt even think about 100% until december" -go figure.
Lots of biking/swimming/elepitical and I will be back.
I was washing my car in 3 days though. :P

Re: Knee surgery this coming Tuesday.
Haven't had any knee surgeries yet, but the doc tells me they are inevitably in the future for me. The cartilage on the backs of my knee caps is allready ------- chewed up cause my knee caps don't "track properly" when I bend my knees. I have also torn the cartilage in both my wrists (TFCC is similar to the meniscus in the knees) and they may eventually require surgey. I have a herniated disc in my neck and a couple of other minor joint problems. Some recent bloodwork showed that I am anemic and there is a possability that I have colon cancer. I go this Friday for testing. I'm 35 and a ------- mess I would trade for an occasional trick knee anyday.

Served me well for a long time- sure toughened up my pain tolerance and my character. But my body is paying for that attitude now. I don't want to be 30 and in a wheelchair.
I know what you mean about following the doctor's advice on the recovery, I'm going to do exactly what they say and work as hard as I can in physical therapy, apparently there's quite a bit of pain in PS, so I'm going to get to exercise my pain tolerance levels again.
9- years of skateboarding is not recommended. Although, and I'm not sure if anyone else ever felt this way. But if I ever had a hard day at work or I felt like i wanted to beat the crap out of someone, I'd just go skate as hard as I could, and inevitably I'd hit the ground hard. There's nothing like taking a 6' drop to concrete on your chest to take the fight outta ya.
to me it was good therapy, anyone else feel that way?
Quick run through of my injuries while skating:
Tore tendons in both ankles, both rolled 20+ times
Torn Meniscus in left knee
Bruised patella in right knee
Broken cartilege in right hip
strained stomach muscles
fractured collarbone
fractured left forearm
Broken left hand
6-stiches in my chin, Kinda neat seeing my jawbone
3 concussions- 2 of those were with a helmet, the last one I cracked it right in half.
Regardless of all these injuries, I was actually pretty damn good. But it got to a point where to take the next step, I'd have to start doing things that would seriously injure me. i was getting too responsible to do that, and I can't not progress in something, so I had to walk away. Been about 3 years now and I can't believe some of the crap I used to try.
to ZC4ME- That sucks man, I'm very grateful that I have a body that actually heals itself very well. however the knees just don't heal themselves. Not well anyway. I hope the results come back negative on the colon cancer.

I tore mine, limped on and off for a year, finally rested it enough (hard to do when hyperactive) and built up enough supporting muscle. Been fine for almost two years now, I run up and down stairs, jump off things, generally still act like a teenager. Solid.
Oct 8th, $7 and a used condom.

Well that's the thing, the knee still works just fine and I can do most things. But I'm sick of it aching so bad after 2hrs of basketball. And my breakdancing really suffers because I can't put too much pressure solely on that knee when bent or it dislocates.
I'm not a fan of uncertainty. I just want it fixed. Plus I've got medical insurance right now, so what better time to get it done.
