indeed a ton of tools out there, i think its safe to say that IF you created a new partition in its place, dont even touch it, dont put anything on it, dont let your computer index it, dont do anything, its VERY possible to get most of everything back, if not all of it... take your time, see what utilities other people like the best. nice going erasing a partition of important ---- :1

I reformatted after loading all my files onto my ipod as a jump and set the ipod on a large fridge magnet and it whiped it clean. Now the computer has a new partition of windows on it and i need to see if it can recover the files from before.

lol, if you did a "full" format, nope, gone forever, if you did a "quick" type format that just makes new index's/tables, then you WOULD be fine, but you installed windows on it? well, you MIGHT be able to get some of it back, stop using that computer IMMEDIATLY, nothing should be installed on it for the time being, ANY utility should be run off a CD/DVD and not installed... seriously, throw that ---- on a DVD next time, not a damn ipod.

bwahaha last reformat I tried while buzzing good, accidentally started formatting my "important" partition and got to about 20% before realizing it. Restarted and everything was still there even though I only have 2gb free out of 112gb.
