Default ive done it (again)

erm, well, yes

last night i went to a mates to see his new "winter *******" which he was planning to use through winter and then scrap

it was dark and as i walked up the drive i knew i'd already bought it.. i spotted a dodgy looking NACA duct in the bonnet and a R19 grille... i "investigated further" the door had dropped due to worn door pins and this has caused the latch on the b post to bend.. the side bolster on the seat is collapsed and the back arch is rotten (ive not seen the passenger side yet.. could be ------- white for all i know!)

i looked round the back and spotted the 4" tailpipe of a full scorpion stainless system, lifted the bonnet and spotted a dump valve, pipercross induction kit, samco hoses and a pace alloy intercooler along with a sparco strut brace and an alarm box...

i dunno how many miles its done but it goes "burble, rarggggggggh, pish" and i reckon the head gasket is shot (couldnt check for oil in water due to dark)

anyway, for those who havent already realised its a black F plater ranault 5 gt turbo that is aparently running 180bhp, and ive bought the car (with 4 days mot) including all the performance bits and bobs for £200..

now i know i'll not be able to get insured for a good while, so its coming straight off the road, im going to replace to door(s, if the passenger side is the same) front wings (just a bit dinged and scruffy),bonnet and i'll weld in rear arch repair sections.. im going to compression test the engine and if its fine i'll just do the head gasket with a spesso job which are available in loads of thicknesses...

the turbo is probably shot (grating noise when lifting off.. make that definatley shot) so i'll replace it with a T28 roller bearing job off an S14 silvia as im sure the exhaust housing has the same flange for the manifold, if not i'll knock up an adaptor plate..

as for the rest of it.. it'll want painting so i'll do that in the original black, get some phase one clio 16V wheels, new seats and new shelf/doorcards as they are speaker holed

i'll post some pics asap...

let the fun commence

Nice, I would love to have one of those over here, all we got was the LeCar!

Here is a pic of one I found for sale here, museum quality, $31,500

i saw it in the light yesterday...

its definatley a *******!!

its absolutley rotten and the front right hand arch has had 4 coats of paint, it's had new sills welded in BADLY.. the bodywork is at turning point.. left any longer it would be un repareable

ive been thinking about re shelling it (would make painting easier!) but instead ive decided to break it

im keeping the intercooler, turbo, dump valve and carb for myself, the front seats are already sold but there are still some good bits..if anyone from the uk wants anything from a gt turbo give me a shout

the plan was to do the headgasket first!!

anyway

its outside my house now (feel free to come and have a loom if you want age) and the floor is solid, im toying with the idea of keeping it, just redo the sills, patch the rotten 1/4 panel and go from there

ive been sitting in the street, hungover to ----, in my "tugmybone" tshirt and bright yellow lakers shorts going vraaaaaaaaaaaaaaam tish for about 5 mins, them my mam came out and told me off

"turn that ------- car off, its not a toy, dont dare put *that* on the drive, im not having any more wrecks outside my house, i had enough of it the last time"

ok, erm, the come over and have a look bit was directed at a friend i have called age (make sense now??)

this, for the non european people on this board (about 90%?) is a renault 5 gt turbo..

it was produced as a publicity stunt for the renault formula one team in the eighties. its a 1397cc ohv pushrod turbo engine, single solex carb, garrett T 2 turbocharger

they make 118bhp standard and are capable of 127mph in standard trim
