ive been looking around all day
yeah so ive been looking around all day on how to set my engine to top dead center. i know most of you have hondas but i have an 87 celica gts ive done everything the haynes manual says the rotor is pointed twards the number one cylender posistion. Ive posted up on celica forums but celica fourms are full of ricer retards who think the alltrac is the best car ever made and they all own 90 hp 3sfe gt's and ----. it says there should be a notch on my crankshaft pully wheel that i can line up to the 0 mark on my block.. but theres not. so i was wondering if theres anyway i can get my engine to tdc by mesurement or anything like that.

take out the #1 spark plug and put a long screwdriver down the cylinder, then put a socket on the crank pulley and turn the motor over, watch the screwdriver and the highest point it reaches is TDC.

Dude, try setting timing on a B230F volvo motor. I had to goto the dealership and have an old friend hook me up with a shop manual. At least you got your ---- done. Oh yeah, there is a difference on TDC for a compression and exhaust stroke.. just to make sure u know.

that was a long time ago I was doing the volvo blind.. for some reason I just cut the timing belt (sohc) and ripped it all apart to change the head gasket.. then was like "oh ---- how does this go back together"
The cams pointers have a fucked up way of pointing at each other. Maybe I will take some pics since I'm about to rebuild the top half of another B230F
