Default It's the ghetto things:)

Heh, I just had one of those moments where you have to play Mcguyver and ghetto rig something up at the last minute to make it work. I had a wheel lock set on my teg and as I was removing the last lug lock, the key broke... I went from store to store looking for another key and no one has them anymore. What the hell do I do
I hammered a 3/8" drive extension into the lug lock and it fit a little loose, so I welded the extension to the lug lock and removed it successfully.
Just wondering what kind of ghetto tricks everyone has used in the past to "get by" in a tight situation. I mean, this is HMT, and I'm sure that most of us have had to use ingenuity to solve a problem.

Hmm.. my most ghetto I think was when my friend forgot to tighten the bolts for my cat converter to my mid pipe and they let go when I was driving.. so I used a coat hanger to put them back together.

Oh wait, or when my battery was dead taking it out of storage and the car wouldn't idle, so I had to run jumper cables to the battery out the passenger window to a spare battery in my passenger seat to get the car home.

I towed a car with a chain attached to a belt once, you know, like a belt that goes around your waist.

This is the best of all. I just did my brakes a week before this happened. This was in my 1983 RX-7. I was on the Highway going home and all of a sudden I heard this grinding noise on the front drivers side wheel. I was like what the hell. I stop and look and what do I see? My break caliper had a bolt fall out and it was just hanging by one bolt. I was luckly I had my floor jack in my car but really I didn't trust my car. I took off the wheel and when I did that I had no idea what to do. I had no bolt or anything to put it back so I could get to the store. I Started thinking and I thought all I need is a zip tie or something. I look on the ground right as I think of this and there is a zip tie. I think that God was watching out for me. It was a bad time in my life. Well I end up putting the zip tie on there and drive off to my girlfriends house and have it fixed. By the time I get there the zip tie was just about melted. I tried not to use the breaks at all. I just used the e-break. I have seen zip ties used for everything. Some guy that was on the side of the road that dropped a zip tie saved my day. Thank you.

mm when we use to be into vw's i remember the throttle cable broke, so we had to use about 4 shoestrings and connected it to the throttle on the carb, then ran the shoe string inside the car. everytime i needed gas i just pulled on the string till i got home. its hard shifting and pulling on a string at the same time. that was ghetto :P

I got zip ties holding my radiator on. I didn't have time to do any body work so I duct taped over the hole, and painted it black. TURBO2.5 bought a whole datsun truck for $50 bucks, we used the clutch for his truck. Oak tab gaskets. And I know I've done other ----.
