Weird... that sucks.

I wonder why they would do it like that?

Even from a production standpoint it seems like it would make more sense to seperate them.

Casting pieces into 1 piece is cheaper for major product. Plus you have to think about assembly. Its easier for a manufactor to do it like this. I dont think the engineers at suzuki had any idea kids would be throwing these on Hondas. Almost all of the CBR's are all in 1 piece design as well.

I thought for sure when I got my 1000 GSXR ITB's they would be able to seperate, because before I even did my project my buddy had a set of the Haybusa ones (like yours) and I was even all excited that I could seperate them. Oh well. They are almost dead even on the spacing, I think somewhere I have some pics of how the runners match up with the stock manifold.

Trust me jeff I have the identical ones as you, gsxr 1000. They come apart! They have **** that fit together, pull the bolts and tap them apart. I had all 4 apart on mine and I can see the seams in your pics

I am in the process of making my ITB set-up. I just the intake mani, and the throttle bodies should be here either today or tommorow. I will post a big write up on here as well as honda-tech.com

I am using CBR 600 F4i throttle bodies on a D16. I am then thinking of making a box around it, like the JDM ITB set-up on a 20V 4age motor. then go turbo with that. (realistic, I will probably sell the ITB set-up and go all turbo)

I am excited about doing the set-up...I will let everyone know how it goes.

Damn that was my idea! Pretty much the same as a GTIR setup or RB26DETT.

Wouldn't the CX/VX intake manifold be perfect for ITBs? Those manifolds are good for nothing else.
You would cut off the tiny part of the manifold and the runners would be open if you wanted to do some porting.
Hey Jeff, what do you think about an ITB project for the D-Series?

The same princples would be applied to a D series as would a B.. as a matter of fact, with the spacing of the ITBs with the fuel rail, one could just weld runners to a D series flange, plug the injector holes, and wah-la, instant D ITBs from already DIY B ITBs.. heh.. swappable. How cute.

cx/vx manifold runners are horrible to say the least. I have my d series itb's that are basically done just havent put them on.Basically did everything like jeff and used a z6 manifold for my runners. I have to agree w/ Jeff that a aftermarket manifold w/ basic port work cast removal and a larger throttle body will make similar power.

I should receive my ITB's tonite, and then I will start my little write up. We are manking a set-up for a B series and a D series.

CBR 600 for the D series
CBR 954 for the B series

The B series is using a B16 intake mani
The D series is using a DX intake mani

We are just waiting for the parts to get here now!
