steve, you know during the cold war there were many soviet subs off the coast at all times... both coasts, my grandma has pictures of a sub off the coast in oregon... international waters is international waters... there are still russian subs off our coast from time to time.

At the time they didn't know they were boxes, what they knew was they said over the radio we are going to blow you up. Then they saw them dropping things in the water. They probably went out and retrieved it and found out they were just boxes. But they didn't know at the time, they got threatened then saw things getting dropped into the water, one would naturally assume they are mines.
As some of you know i juts came back from a split deployment from Qatar and iraq. In Qatar alls we did was intel collection and straits transit escorts for the ships.
THIS HAPPENS all the time. The media just blew it out of proportion, they came closer then possible but that is the regular SOP for the IRGCN. They cruise around in about 5-7 TIR's or Peykap's (small speed boats with RPGs and Surface the air missiles,some with mines) When ships come through they sworm the ships to see how close they can get, When they feel threatened finally they turn. Its normal, i saw it every other day out there flying overhead the ships coming through. These guy's DID get closer than normal though. I think the US did everything rite. They warned them verbally, blew there horn and told them they are entering a danger zone.
They were in international water, you MUST go through the straights to get into the arabian gulf, where most of our oil comes from, and they were out there protecting,not just OURS and the worlds oil supply that comes out of the arabian gulf. As well in support of OIF.
You all need to get a little bit more educated before you start bashing on the U.S. Iran does alot of provocative ---- towards the US and ALOT Slides as to NOT go to war. There was alot that happened when i was out there, and alot of times, coalition would move aside so they wouldn't "hurt any feelings".
We are trying to make a better name for ourselves over there as a country, the other day a US warship pulled out some Iranian fisherman that were thrown overboart out of there DHOW. They are allways doing this to help out, but of course the good things don't get to the media. Only the bad, then alot of people, including people on here make Ignorant posts like what you see when you read this thread.

Warlock is pretty cool, its all ESM jamming correct? Big atenna's on the back of the humvee's? They were taking alot of AW non acoustic people and sending them to iraq to do ESm type things in the humvee.
