Default insurance company's giving it to me ----

I'll keep it short since I know how much you hate long stories. My dd is an audi a4 1.8t, got in a little accident, lady hit me from behind at a grocery store parking lot. The damage was minimal but her insurance company still wanted to salvage it. I have no choice but to let them salvage it but I wanted to keep the car and take off the parts i just put in it(k04 turbo, chip and bigger injectors, about 4k in investment, + preventive maintenance ---- and new set of all seasons. anyway the insurance company is cuttin me a decent check (almost blue book) if I let them take the car but I get fucked if I want to keep the car. It is over $5k differnce so I cant afford to keep it.

I was thinking about taking the check, tracking the car down at auction and picking it up at a competitive price at the auction. Unless somebody figures out i got performance parts in her, very hard to tell unless you really know your ----, I think i can pick her up really cheap because of the damage +, s title. Does this sound like a stupid idea?

basicly check from insurance company ~15k, 10k if i want to keep her, 4k invested and im thining shed go under 4k at auction, if i pick her up for that much I can get my perfomance parts back, strip and sell for parts to recover a 3-4k more and donate the car for tax credit does this sound like a good plan?

also I just slapped this turbo in like 3 months ago, its rebuilt and smokes a little when the car is cold.. is there anything i can put in her (thinner oil, additive etc) to make her smoke like a bitch so no one else bids on her?

If you're getting a check for more than you paid for the car and more than you invested in it, I would just let them total it out and call it a day.

If the check is less than what you have invested in the car (including the initial price of the car) then get a copy of your bill of sale for the car, and receipts for everything you've done to it. While you're at it, take a visit to the ER and give them a copy of your car insurance card, tell them your neck hurts. They'll take X-rays maybe an MRI, give you some pain killers and tell you it's probably just strained muscles. Your insurance company will get the bill and forward it to the other guy's insurance company, you come out with pain killers and a check for pain and suffering.

You can also skip a few days of work if you feel like it, and get them for lost wages too.

In my past experience, when I got hit by a guy that wasn't paying attention and going way too fast, I got fucken paid and they did everything to settle without a lawyer involved. Granted we both had the same insurance company, but I received all my checks in like 1-2 business days. They tried giving me the same run around they're giving you, they offered me $2000 for my car and said I could buy it back for $500 and I said ---- you - I'm calling my lawyer since I can prove I paid more than that for the car, it's worth more than that, and I can prove I have money invested in it.

After I hung up the phone I got a call 10 minutes later and they had increased their offer to a number I was comfortable with so I went ahead and said send me the check. Two days later I was holding a fat check.

The other thing I did was after I went to the ER I went and saw a few specialists just to run the bill up in hopes they'd take me a bit more serious.
The bottom line is that you need to hit them for everything you can, get your pain and suffering, lost wages, get money for a rental car, and most importantly don't get fucked out of your own car. I told my insurance company under no circumstances would I allow them to move my vehicle from my property, because who knows where they might take it or what they might do.

Here's a few pictures of my accident that I took just in case I had to go to court with the insurance company, I hope you took some of your accident too. Also keep a record of every single piece of paper they send you, and anything you get from the doctor, etc. Keep everything documented.

this offer is after me playing hardball with the insurance agent. I paid around 12.5 for the car with taxes about 2 years ago and spent 4k in performance ----. I did all the labor myself HMT style and only have some recipts, it would have been over 8k if the dealer did it. I have got them up to 15k if they take the car or 10 if I keep it. my total investment would be 16.5k..

Also I am dealing with the ladys insurance company, not mine.. it has been 3 weeks since the accident and I stil dont have a check and had to turn in the rental car. life without a car is a biatch. Idk wtf im going to do, the rep said he'll let me know where the car ends up, (salvage auction) if they take it, i think he has to. I really just dont want to loose money with this deal, I spent a lot of time and energy and had this car where i wanted it when this ---- happened. The ------- lady was doing 45mph in a ------- alberstons parking lot and i might loose 3k over it and all the time i spent modding fucing with this car..

im probably going to let them total it, go to the auction with seafoam and make this bitch smoke like hell so nobody bids on her. get it for a reasonable price, strip it out and make my money back and maybe a little more.. does that sound like a bad idea?

As long as you didn't agree to anything yet, fabricate some receipts for the parts you installed on your car. I'm sure somebody here on HMT will rise to the occasion.

Add the blue book for your car + the total price of your modifications together and tell the insurance company that is your bottom dollar, or they can pay to get the car fixed. If they fail to agree to any of that, and you really think you're going to end up with the short end of the stick you might look into getting a lawyer. If you're going to get a lawyer though, you have to really ---- the insurance company good in other areas to cover the cost of your lawyer.

I mean, what happens if the little rat fink *accidentally* tells you the wrong place, wrong time, etc and you end up getting stuck with a check that isn't enough to cover your *** - and no car.

There's no way you should have had to turn in the rental car if your car is still fucked up and they haven't paid you or fixed your car. If you have full coverage on your car, you should contact your own insurance company and see what they will do for you.
