Default Insurance

Parents have caught on to what plans I've been brooding for my car. Which it is kind of hard to miss with misc. car parts coming in here and there. Especially when the FMIC and the Turbo came in. That must have tipped some node in their head. Anyway they started asking questions, and I explained my plans to my father. He is an engineer so he has somewhat of and understanding of it, he wasn't outraged, nor should be, because I'm 18 and funding this all by myself along side paying for my own car and other things. Anyway today my mom approached me and told me they had concerns about insurance issues. Modding my car and turning it into a sports car and insurance going up even though I've been in 1 wreak and had 1 ticket and and I'm a teen Male so insurance is up the *** anyway. My driving record has been clean as of the last 3/4 of a year or so and is looking to stay that way(heh the irony of saying that while on a site devoted to making cars faster/more powerful).

I figured most of the people on here just don't claim this on their insurance, grit their teeth, and hope nothing happens. My mom brought up the point that if this or that happens and they find out they could drop everybody off the insurance plan.

So anyway could somebody enlighten me on this subject matter? Its beyond me at the moment. They're resonable people and will listen to a good point, they want questions answered to. Most of all there is no way in hell I'm stopping this project.

I didn't read it all. Too long. Don't tell your insurance people. What would happen and if it was motor related you'd probably do a swap or another of the same or build or whatever so insurance means nothing. I turboed my car, which is funny because I wanted I/H/E last Christmas and I wasn't allowed. Now it turned into our Father-Son project. Wierd? Oh well, God bless good parents. No need to worry really. Depends on your insurance company too, but really dude, what would happen?

+1

The insurance company only goes by the vehicle's VIN#. And since honda doesn't turbo their cars from the factory, at least here in the states, there's no reason your insurance will increase.

However, on the flipside of that coin, you'll be able to get into trouble with "Johnny Law" much easier with the turbo kit installed. With that said, just drive it smartly, and you'll be fine.
