Installed Short Shifter today
Wow, my shift throws are like 1.5 inches. Its pretty cool. Took me like 45 minutes to install, not too bad. I gotta get one of those shift stabilizer bushings, cause the shifter is all messy when its in gear, moves lie 2 inches side to side, is this normal? BTW, its a shitty no-name brand shifter, I don't even know what brand, cause I got it used from somebody on this site, kind of a package deal. Wondering if anyone else is using a short shifter? Pros and cons?

I've heard some bad things about no name shifters breaking off in peoples hands or not being the absolute correct shape, which makes it hard to put it in gear/hard shifting. Just hear say. Let us know how it works out in the long run.

Yeah I've heard some shady reports about the no-name shifters, that's why I went with B&M on my Civic. I love it, my throws are so tight and the shifting even feels more crisp. But if yours didn't cost too much and it's fun, then I guess you got a good deal. If you have any problems and need to replace it, try going with a B&M one. I got all new bushings on the shifter with the product, and it only ran me like $60 on Ebay. Good luck with yours, though.

i have one of those no-name, egay $15 short shifters probably the same thing as your's. i've had it since march and i haven't had any problems but it is pretty loose when it's in gear. overall i'm pretty pleased with it but i intend to get a b&m if i ever have the money around for it. i'll post up if mine ever breaks off

I don't have to worry about it breaking off at the bottom of the threads, cause they are already cut off. I guess he just wanted to make it that much shorter, I like the way it sits though. The only drawback is that you can't use a stock shift ****, but I don't need to worry about that. I gots me a MOMO ****.

Well Im ghetto....so I just hacked mine like 2.5 inches with a Sawzall and got a leather wraped MOMO shifted that didnt need threads to go on(it has set screws on the sides).Looks good and shifts great!

Re:Installed Short Shifter today
You hacked up your stock shifter? That really wouldn't decrease the throws all that much, cause the short shifters move the fulcrum point on the rod, i.e. they move the pivot ball up the shaft. Hehehe shaft.
