Re: Info on 2.8L V6 - chevy
Thanks for all the input. I went and looked at the truck and wow what a piece of ----, the only thing that was decent looking on it was the engine. Although he does have an original 327 with 2 speed power glide tranny that i just might pick up. I told him i'd sell the honda for $3000 and trade the turbo kit i have for the engine, probably wont go for it but what the ---- might as well try. So anyone here want a honda?

DOHC vs OHV, the only thing they have in common is that they are 60* v6's

Between packing the timing belt gear over top of the timing chain, changing the entire timing belt R&R procedure multiple times with even more TSBs about revised tools and procedures since it's nearly impossible to get correct the first time, and being packed into a poorly designed no-room-to-work-on-it engine bay cluttered with brittle plastic vacuum tubing and shoddy wiring the overall effect is classic GM of the 80s-90s. Honduh, desiring to be more like GM since Soichiro's death, copied it when designing the K-series.

thats exactly what i ment by saying its the 60* v6. the block design is similar, hence the refernce to the 60* v6. all of the 60*v6's share similar blocks (2.8, 3.1, 3100, 3.4 DOCH, 3400, 3500, 3900). The main difference that makes the 3.4 DOHC "different" is the DOHC vs OHV. Thus, IMO, a bigger PITA to work on than the OHV family of 60* V6's.
