yea, the cobalts arent the greatest cars. i know a guy with one that has had nothing but problems with his.

since you are asking on a site with mostly honda owners i am going to recommend a civic.

if you want to make it faster though, i would keep the cobalt as a daily driver and play with the civic on the side. daily driving your project sucks when it needs a few days of downtime to get something done on it and you dont have something else to drive to work.

^ X2 been there done that. Get a civic to wrench on and build up. But keep the cobalt to daily drive.
Or buy 2 civics, one for day to day and one to build.

If you want a good car that would be easy to makee a best go with a dsm, preferably awd, off the stock block it would not be hard to go into the 11's, with not much cash into it each other. And to who ever says they are unreliable, they are as reliable as you want to make them, do them right you will have no problems, hack it and youll have problems. If it has a 6 bolt, 92.5-90 it could do 450awhp with no internal mods, good tune it will do 550 whp with out much problem.

i think ur crzay bt w/e

if you are going to go with a dsm go with a 420a simple as hell get:
a cast mani from ebay
fmu 12:1
fuel pump
fuel cut defender or missing link
turbo not more than 8 psi

that will RELIABLY give u a real good car to learn the ways of the turbo, while keeping $$ in your pocket and giving you time to choose what your next project is going to be

or say ---- dsm's and get a real car :P
