I had the same problem on my old car, try some lucas oil additive. It worked for a while.

come in a Yellow 1qt bottle, just like oil, in the additives section of most parts stores and walmart. do an oil change with the normal oil you would use and replace 1qt with this stuff, works wonders.

i did the same thing on my old mustang, loud tick/knock. put some of that in, went away almost immediately. 4 days later traded it in, 6 days after that, dealership called me and told me to never step foot on their lot again due to the lemon i traded in, lol
