Default i have yet another question. built d15

hey again. i have an old d15b2 dx motor in my garage, and i was wondering if anyone knew what kind of compression ratio would result from putting a z6 or y8 vtec head and an a6 si top end on it? would this motor be worth anything? i can do this for CHEAP, and i wanna build up a quick winter beater for next year. if you guys have any ideas, let me know. also, when doing a mini-me setup, you just bolt everything together, right? no weird mods? thanks

What do you mean a6 top end?

I thought you just said you wanted a Z6 or Y8 head?

Anyhow if you were to put the z6 head on the b2 block, you get about a 10.8cr and the y8 will be slightly more.

Using the B2 and a Vtec head you will need to use a VX timing belt, and you will also need to remove the oil oriface jet on the face of the deck in the middle of the block.

by a6 top end i meant the manifold, portmatched, and the fuel rail/injectors/etc. i have most everything i need sitting around, except the head. what does removing that oil jet entail? never heard of that. thanks man

Ahh, ya you can use all that stuff no problem.. The oil jet is a peice of cake to take out.. Its located inbetween cylinders 2 and 3 (on the topside towards the firewall) its a very small little jet, sometimes they come out easy, sometimes they can be a ------- ----.

You have to remove this otherwise you wont get vtec.. lol Some guys on Honda-tech seem to forget this and make posts "My mini-me doesnt have vtec?"

It took me nearly 4 months to finish mine... ordering parts, in the machine shop and lots of other bullshit, balancing blah blah..

What about a d15b7. I believe its a 93 lx motor. I have both z6 and y8 heads. Im guessing it would raise it also since the quench zones are much better on the y8 and smaller.
