^^^No ---- you don't see Jeeps in africa and god knows where else you see Land cruisers and Land Rovers. I don't get why your even driving a import when your always bashing them. You'd look good in a Camaro Jason.

That's because they are cheaper to get there. Jeeps are HUGE high end status symbols in parts of europe and asia, you don't take them offroading. Just like you rarely see old school Landcruisers hardcore offroading in America (if you do 75% of the time they are FJ60/65 aka stout but cheap) and almost never see Land Rovers. Land Rovers are a joke, anyway, ever since the late 80's Defender all they do is drop major pieces of drivetrain for no reason, especially rear ends, when street driven. You can't trust them offroad. :1

Ever since Jeep (Chrysler) ditched the old straight 6 for the 4.0, and especially since they ditched the El Gay computer feedback carb in the early 90's, they've been wonderful offroad machines. I know a guy who only went through two engines and three transmissions by 130K miles... he'd had his YJ submerged in mud/water midway up the windshield a half dozen times, so that works out to their auto transmissions can only handle being submerged in water midoperation twice, and the engines can only be hydrolocked three times before they fall apart. How do you like those apples, sweet cheeks?

I've yet to see a real 4X4 machine that wasn't a maintainence -----, just like a fast turbo car. Not that I'd be caught dead in a Jeep; I'm more of an early 80's Subaru hatch guy with one of the old school pushrod 1.6/1.8's. Those ARE unfailingly reliable even after 20 years of rust and deterioration, and while they won't go some places the Jeep will they own most Jeeps in the other offroad environments. We had a loose red clay/sand bank about 40 degree incline out front of a shop I worked at once, and of all the trucks that tried only the bone stock '86 DL hatch could make it to the top much less turn around at WOT (or any speed) without worrying about tipping over.

i never have needed to maitnence a toyota once in my life other than standard interval stuff, or something im screwing around with on my own (ie exhaust or steats or something)

there is more toyotas with over 250k+ driving around western to central pa, than there is any to pretty much honda or some other similar low to mid end vehicle.

also, SOA was the main reason toyota owned offroad (aka the solid axle, pre-86 trucks). factory 4" lift over most other compact trucks, and they have good engineering in the drivetrain. only after 300k will your 2nd and 4th gear start to get sticky. and timing chains are supposed to be changed at 75 to 125k, i have seen many toyotas with 2xx and still orig chain.

and a dead simple over-engineered engine to begin with
