go straight back to that lube shop and raise hell with the manager. If they dont agree to pay for the motor then take them to court. There is no way u would lose. If anything pop under the car loosen up the drain plug and tell them they didnt tighten up the drain plug and it fell out on the way home, blowing up your engine!

But you can't fit your hand in 3 separate holes and the motor didn't pop at 140mph on the freeway leaving oil not only on your car, but every car trailing

Lame

they're gonna probably claim that ur engine was damaged before the oil change. The only thing you can do it bitch about it. Its really shitty that that happened. Good luck dealing with them...

When I use to work in a parts store I would have customers telling me about these same nightmares.

Some of them raised enough hell to get a used or new motor installed for free.

I believe most shops have some kind of insurance to cover this take them to court.

Overfilled oil in motors will smoke like a ------ chimney from idle up and basically make them unable to be driven. I learned this after I did a swap for my buddy who was in a tough spot. I did all the ---- most people ---- up on and had him do all the bitch work so I didnt feel like a slave working for 100 bucks. Long story short he comes and gets me and is crying the motor is fucked it smokes like crazy etc.

My redneck los angeles county HOnda guru buddy asks if he drained the motor since most motors from JAP land come almost full. He didnt and threw 5 quarts on top of the 2+quarts already in the motor

My experince if they overfilled it you would have people screaming at you from behind that your car is on fire.

Drained like 4 quarts out of the car and broke the Jap Land Vtec motor in with rev limiter drops and a 8 hour road trip. Car ran perfect till he left for Korea.

Conclusion: If they overfilled your oil you would of noticed it right away.

Thanks for all the replies, except for you **** that confused me with that canadian piece of ---- spencer. I've been reading around on google web searches and this generation of camry is looking like not too many problems, there are reports of 98s and 99s throwing rods, but not 92-96. On my search about over filling it said that the oil can get aerated and then not pump worth a ---- and lose it's good oily qualities, so if that happened it would have happened over time, say 37 miles or so, and there would be no problems up until then (as the case was).

The shop was inside an exxon gas station and I think that there are 3 brothers than own it, and 2 of them were there when I went in with my complaint. These guys got so defensive you would have thought I accused them of being communists or something, makes me wonder if they get alot of complaints. I had the car towed to my house to wait it out, I think I'm going to have my aunt who is a lawyer write them a letter saying I'm going to sue them for damages to the motor and the suffering I incurred from being stranded at 10am when this bitch popped and see where that gets me.

Unfortunately I don't have the facilities, equipment, or time to do a swap myself. Also unfortunately I have not done anything to enhance the performance of this car so it was no fun when it went.

Also, since it was so cold out it could have been smoking a little and nobody driving behind me would have noticed because it might have just looked like steam.
