well i went to smog my white hatchback cuz im gonna sell it, and the first time i went in i failed because i got 0 ignition timing, and i think the cat was old
NO max @ 15mph = 859, i got 570
NO max at 25mph, 798, i got 588
CO max 15mph = 0.84, i got .17
CO @ 25mph .73 i got .09
HC max @ 15mph 138, i got 81
HC max at 25mph 112, i got 43

so if i just changed the timing i think it would have raised the numbers and i would failed, so what i did was take a obd2 cat, and my old exhaust off my si with 145k on it, and i cut the exhaust with a chop saw and welded the obd2 cat in and plugged up the bung so basically a double cat exhaust... heres the numbers
no @ 15= 4
no@ 25= 257
CO @ 15= .03
co @ 25= .00
HC @ 15= 10
HC @ 25= 5

wayyyyyy down from what i had it at, and timing was at 15degrees.

stupid CA smog, i cheated them good.. and btw this engine has 210k on it, came from florida to northern CA, it will be for sale shortly for about 2500 obo

its not nessicarly cheating the smog if your accualy reducing the ammount of polutants coming out of your car.

i passed with 2 cat, down scaled 450 with UB and stock timing and a empty intake box. LOL
NOx are a little higher then normal tho...

over here in PA... i have a gutted cat.. & all i have to do to pass smog is show up... oh and have a sealed gas cap.

Oh and you wanna know how to really cheat the smog... not take it. All my hondas, I have never smoged one, not one.

Oh and using two cats ain't nothin' new. People have been doing that for years and years. I have a spare hf mani/cat/dp setup laying around just in case I decide I want to smog my car(s).

Just move to MN, no emissions. Stealthmode was smart enough to join us, you can do anything to your car as long as it has 2 license plates with current tabs and a reasonable tint. Actually I did get pulled over for my exhaust falling off, but that was in an uber-rich community.
