I heard about it a while ago, but never thought to investigate.

Makes sense that if I heard about it years ago, it is no good by now. Or never worked in teh first place.

I used to take clear packing tape and tape it to the very edge of a bill. Bot sides so theres no sticky tape. slide it in the dollar slot, wait till it reads it and swipe the bill right back out. Boom free soda AND change. Not sure how far machines have come but this was about 14 yrs ago or so.
