What I usually do...
Roll up the windows and turn the HEAT on full blast (sucks in the summer)
(With slicks) pull into the water box when instrusted, burn out and turn the wheel back and forth (no LSD)
(No slicks) Go around the water box
Pre-Stage, check gauages...
Pull forward ever so slightly until the second light turns on
Floor the throttle until the 2-stage kicks in and slightly lift off the clutch until you start to feel resistance (pre-load)
As soon as you see that Yellow light lift and go
Roll up the windows and turn the HEAT on full blast (sucks in the summer)

when I race an auto depending on the car I trans brake it at the line and go as soon I see the third light, with a manual I was trying to work on feathering the clutch last year. every car is different and you'll have to figure out the best way for your car

Don't worry about too many things. Take it slow the first few times and try to get all of the logistics correct so you dont kill anyone or yourself. Just try to have a good time and also improve your driving skills on successive runs. Remember, you can have the fastest car and still lose to a Pinto.

As for myself on street tires I use FTL in Crome set to 4750. Holding the ebrake, revs up a little, lightly clutching into prestage, wait for the other lane to pre-stage if I am in first. Once both pre-staged I creap in using the e-brake, half loaded clutch and moderate revs. Once fully staged as SHALLOW as possible (for best e/t and consistancy) the revs come full, clutch loaded, flicker of the 3rd bulb and its off.
On slicks everything is the same but I launch off the rev limiter at 7350. See the sig for my time
Not shabby in a single cam.
