How do i connect two router
Heres the problem
There are two computer at my house sharing the cable connection with a router withOut an uplink port.
Eariler today I was trying to connect a freinds router (sharing by three computers) to my router so he can use my connection, he had DSL on the same setup but it`s just too slow in the area we are living in.
I did it by connecting one of the LAN port on my router to the WAN port on his router with a stright throught cable. The WAN light and the LAN light on both router goes on (showing connection) but none of the computer at his house can go online. I am using about 20 feet of CAT5 cable with RJ45 connectors with the wires in the correct order.
Now as i read mroe online, since there are no uplink port on my router. do i need a crossover cable to make the connection work? Everyones saying all the built in up-link port has an internal crossover done so u can use regular stright through cable. now since mine has no up-link port should i fab up the crossover wire to make it work?

Re: How do i connect two router
If your router dont' have a uplink port, then it's most likely you need to make a crossover cable. I never like the new hub/switch/router that says it has a smart uplink port which would auto detect if you need a straight or cross cable. , it never work for me. So, I just go with old school way and make a cross over cable.
