Default How come I can't stop getting angry over bullshit? ********

This thread is gayer than AIDs without **** so **** is included.

I'm at work today. I cook at a golf club on the course. Anyway, the GM comes down today at the end of a relatively slow day. End of the story he gets some food from me, I go get a new propane tank, I come back and he walks up to me and says "I know its not your job but can you pick the weeds around the patio." I'm thinking, "I'll just agree, pick two while he is here and then stop." so I say "Okay". I pick one, and I just become over come with rage. The ---- if people come to my station while I have 16 people waiting for food and help me do my job, so why the ---- should I do the work of the maintenance workers? We have 20-30 workers that are supposed to maintain the facility. I cook food and take care of the customers in my station. I shouldn't be weeding the patio while I have various members I serve on a regular basis walk by. I closed my station and left. I wish I had the ability to let that slide, but ----, I can't help myself.

Would I have been wrong to tell the guy "no" from the beginning?

you should explain to him that no one helps you do your job when you're in the weeds

I put the second most amount of overtime in the company(salary'd employees not included), never called out the whole summer, and already pick up everyones extra work in the station. My job at time requires one to do a lot of work. I can serve 150-200 sandwiches in a day. That doesn't include all the prep work necessary to make said sandwiches along with the sides. I do this about 98% by myself. Days like this require working 14 hours. I'm not saying I'm there 14 hours, I'm working 14 hours with maybe a 30 minute break at 5PM. Forget about taking food breaks. Thats in 90+ degree weather next to a hot grill. It's a thankless job, but also one of the jobs that is the most profitable for the company. I do more than my fair share. He just only comes down on slow days when he is bored sitting in his office doing a lot of nothing. The fact of the matter is, it's his job to make sure the facility is taken care of. He has a maintenance department to take care of such things. They didn't do their job adequately. Now it's my job to fix their mistakes? When those guys stop coming in groups of 10 at 12PM when I have groups of golfers coming for lunch at the same time thus making my job near impossible, I'll pull their weeds.

As for him just firing me. We have a nice HR rep that I'd gladly call on in said situation. I'd also be a blessing in disguise as well because then I'm guaranteed unemployment.

You agreed to work there for a given amount per hour. Basically, anything and everything you can accomplish during your time on the clock is your job. He might be a *****, but I don't know anyone who stands out as a right hand man who's ever said "that's not my job".

Okay, so why didn't he pick up the weeds? People don't do stuff every day because its not their job. What you are saying is quite a load. My job is to cook the food, serve the food, take the orders, and clean up after myself. I need to do anything else that allows me to do said things.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define%3A+job

Basically confirms my understanding of a job....If they wanted to hire me to do whatever the ----, they shouldn't have placed me in the Food and Beverage dept as a cook and given me a chef jacket to wear.

Cause he's probably a lazy ----, but being the boss, he can do that.

You can choose to not pick the weeds, but as soon as someone comes along and does what's asked of them (a.k.a. someone who really wants the job), they're going to have your job, and you're going to deserve unemployment.

Yeah, some bosses are complete ******** and there's ---- they say that you don't want to do, but throwing google in his face and telling him it's not your job isn't gonna go very far. I don't know, find a job you want to do.

You really are a hypocrite. You say this but stand strongly against Mexican workers who do exactly this. The fact of the matter is, everyone has their limits. If he wants to fire me because I won't weed, then that's his choice. Whether it will hold up according to his bosses rules (we are owned by a bigger golf management company) is a completely different story.

Either way, this thread is supposed to be about why I couldn't just tell the guy "Okay, I'll do it" and just pretend to do it. Then not do it and not get pissed about it. Why did I have to get pissed off? Completely ridiculous why I got so pissed off.
