Or you spend a couple seconds letting the car idle before you turn you it off... Or you could just kill yourself

I used to just not hit boost for a minute or two before I got to my destination, and then let it idle for a few seconds (like 30).

When I pulled my turbo apart to rebuild it there were zero signs of coking, so I figure I must have done something right.

I'm not sure I would trust some kitchen timer if I were you. Just let it cool off and you won't need any sort of timer.

^^ Same method... just don't boost for the last few minutes... you may not even have to let it idle after that, but it wouldn't hurt.
