Okay was just wondering if there is a download or some program that can tell what persons has made alias' on HMT by their IP address? cuz that would work perfectly for SCAMMERS and ----. Just wanna help everyone out on knowing who is who and what names they have used.

that would work great if everybody had static ip addresses. but unfortunately many people have dynamic. ever try and keep track of somebody using dial up aol ip addresses...hahaha...---- that, its a waste of time. nice thoughtful idea though. :P

Its not a complete waist of time. it is agenst AOL policy and most ISP's policy to do what msot of the scammers have. you can track the address and find the city and report them to the ISP to get there *** kickewd off. But that is up to the admins. none of us mods ahve that power.

well actually most people have cable probably on here. i dunno tho.. it still would be a great idea i think.. would help some people out i know it would.

cable is on the same premis as dialup, its all DHCP.

well on the other thread "the scammer one" they tracked smokey_civic through a dial up... how did that work. i think it would work if they had a list of alias's that they currently are using and what they have used in the past.

wow, i didnt even think of that. very true.

also, some people who have dial up keep their computers running for weeks or even months. you will keep the same ip address until you end the connection and release the ip for somebody else to use. same thing with cable. im on dhcp, but since my router is on 24/7 my ip changes only once every few months.

when i was on dial up i'd be lucky to get 30 mins of a solid disconnect free connection.. the only way is to tell the service provider of fraudulant activities.

i know you all hate clubsi and ----, but i co-moderate the for sale canada forum over there, and i've been lucky enough to be able to see the ip addresses of every user posting. makes it fairly easy to identify which people are "dupes" or "clones" or what have you.

it's only ever easy though if you have a hint or a clue as to what is going on.

a utility such as the one listed above would not be as useful as you think, AbaZ or his brother would have access to the database and the ability to apply different filters such as IP address, and signup date, last login etc. to figure out who's "dupe"ing..



man i hope that made sense, it's 8am and i haven't slept yet.. heh.
