Default HMT how to: pizza on the cheap

---- spending $12 a pizza for toppings (per pizza, plus delivery costs!!), the total cost of this was around $6.25 to me (some bulk quantites were present, adjusted for standard kitchen stocking costs), give or take for non-sale and regional price differences. hooray recession!

2c water at 105º-115º (free, $.02 for elec use)
add in 2T white sugar, ($.05)
1 slightly mounded tsp of table salt (or garlic, or smoked, or blah blah..) (.03)
8T or 1/2c of oil (olive, cooking oil, baby seal skin oil etc) (.04)
2 packets of yeast (.67)

throw it into a large bowl (free), stir well, let sit for 10-15 or until it foams up nice (2c volume of foamy goodness):

next, add in 5c flour (i used 4c white flour (.65), 1c wheat flour(.15))
(picture of me mixing, and me kneading didn't come out, soo.. here's the kneaded (effort, nil cost) product:

throw into a bowl with 1T-2T (.02)oil, roll it around, let sit for 30min. preheat oven to 400 ($.14 in kW)

get your pan(s) out. spray/grease them,(free to $.05) and/or then dust with cornmeal (.02):

throw that bitch on the counter (nil cost)

punch the dough down, break into two sections (nil cost)

i massaged the bitch out to nearly 2x one single pan size, if it wants to retract you used too much flour (nil cost)

here it is in the pan (nil cost)

both pans ready to go (nil cost)

this is 1 can tomato paste (.33) one half jar of hunts pizza sauce (.55, i saved myself $.22!)

sprinkle with shaker cheese (grated romano/parmesan, free from pizza hut table) and season to your liking (.35)

top with cheese (i used a dusting of cheddar down against the sauce (.50) and a total of 1lb of mozzerella generic brand (2.50)

butter fry some mushrooms for pizza topping
3T of margerine (.25) and 8ozs of mushrooms (1.50, worlds largest mushroom mine is 6mi from my house)

medium high heat until they start to get golden brown, then take off heat, put on pizza (.04 in elec maybe)

1/4 of a red onion (.1 some meatballs from leftover meatloaf the other day (1.00) added to the mushrooms

sprinkled with more cheese (.17)

put in the oven for 18 mins or so, until crust starts to golden up (.1

then throw em on broil for a few mins until the cheese starts to get dark spots (.10)
remove from oven, let cool a few mins before cutting (free like welfare)

cut up, enjoy! (phone camera doesn't like red tones, fucked the final product up in looks. was ------- delicious)

The $5 around here is nasty cardboard you don't even feed the dog. Homemade pizza is bomb, folks.

I just made kung pao chicken for the first time and fried rice. The rice sucked because it was cheap ---- and it was all mush. The kopo chicken wasn't bad though. Peanuts, chilis, carrots, and chicken together is win.

if you do it right, homemade pizza tastes as good if not better than pizza chain pizza. buying ---- in 50lb flour sacks and 5gal oil tubs is where savings is.

The 5 dollar pizza's are just dough which well isnt what craves pizza urges. Solid work. I worked in a pizza joint all through high school. Homemade is pretty damn good if you know what your doing

+1

I hate the homemade pizza that is all dough and no flavor... disgusting. Once you have the flavor & thickness of the dough correct the rest is hard to ---- up.

I was looking through this forum earlier today and it occurred to me, "I haven't seen any badass recipes lately".

Good writeup.
