In the winter, should I run the generator in the garage with the door down?

So I went to Daddy depot and got 5 ft of 10-3 wire, a double pole 30amp breaker, and some of those plastic round deals for going in/out of boxes. I don't have the compressor yet, so I don't know which plug or box I'll need yet. I'm just going to run the wire to about where the box will be and keep the breaker off.
I've never wired a breaker, but I'm sure if I just go by how the a/c is wired, I should be able to keep my eyes in their sockets. After I go clear the snow off the driveway of course.

that 10-3 that you picked up, there is going to be a bare conductor(grounding) a white conductor(groundedcondutor) a red(hot 120v) and a black(hot 120v)

white the bare conductor to the ground lugs on the panel, the white conductor to the bar with all the whites on it. The red conductor to one side of the breaker, and the black to the other side of the breaker. its pretty simple

keep in mind that im ASSuming this is a subpanel. so the neutrals(whites) and the grounds(bare) should be seperated. If the townhouse has its a meter on the other side of that panel, then the neutrals and the grounds can be landed together, on the same bar. i can fab up a ms paint if ya needs it

oh, and ive been doing resi electrical stuff for a little over 3 years, im 22 and am a WA state certified electrician. so im not just feeing you incorrect info. let me knwo if u need a ms paint

Yes, the meter is on the other side of that wall outside the house.

Looks like this is going to have to wait until another day. My friends brakes went out in his 1863 toyata rust bucket. I thought he was low on fluid, but it turns out that he's got a busted hardline. Right behind the steering rack too. Should be fun.

Thanks for everyones help. If I take out that box tomarrow and find that common sense won't get the job done, I'll post up.
