Hey Honda Tech, ---- YOU!!

Re: Hey Honda Tech, ---- YOU!!
You guys need to do what Craig @ TunerToys does. Runs ads through Google and they are always on H-T's banners. Pretty damn effective and I'm almost positive he is not a HT sponsor. In fact, I just logged onto HT and bam, there is a Tuner Toys ad part of Google's syndication ad program.
As for the banning of names and stuff, well, it's ridiculous. I'm pretty sure them banning "----" and docking points was a lot more ridiculous but this is pretty close. You should be able to have a user name and a signature that promotes your business. I have no issue with restricting the use of FS posts though. It is their webspace and it costs money to run the site. They have a right to make money.

I think this is why forums go downill. The faceless advertisers that are in it just for the money are more catered to than someone who actively participates in the forum helping people.
I understand how its not fair that someone is paying to advertise while someone else is getting it for free if they post alot and are advertising in their sig. But on the same token which is more valueable...the person who contributes to the forum or the faceless advertiser who contributes nothing?
I know the bills have to get paid but this is the internet, a new forum is just around the corner. When a site worries more about advertising dollars than the quality of the forum, people are just going to move to somewhere else. And than how valueable are the paying sponsors when there is no traffic to the site?

Re: Hey Honda Tech, ---- YOU!!
We got our SN banned before i even knew what was going on, Dealing with Honda-Tech's staff and advertising with them is like going up in front of a judge, no fun at all and mostly a big waste of time. Lots of users on that site, but there are plenty of other ways to reach buyers, and so i think we will wait for them to start giving sponsorships at 80% off.

The new Sponsor fees are retarded as you have all noticed. You should see the chaos its causing with all of the sponsors. Internet Brands (whom i presume own the site) are obviously a little money hungry. They wont even let someone post the name or link to their personal site (like -------------) without paying NO LESS than $275 per month. The site is going to fall apart because all of the original supporters of it are being banned by IB for not paying up. It has really come down to either pay them the ridiculous fee or get banned. Since i moderate a few of the forums on HT (mainly Forced Induction) i can see the Moderators Area. It mainly consists of complaints, updates and warnings due to this recent hike in prices. Basically, its the beginning of the end IMO.

Re: Hey Honda Tech, ---- YOU!!
turbodano (the owner of bullseye turbo's) posted up last night on HT calling out this BS and there were a ton of replies in the few short minutes it had been up, and imagine this, by the time I checked this morning it was all gone...
In reality for myself as a consumer, I buy from sponsors that add tech, and help. Which typically is the small shops, that have a passion for this, in any case I will do my best to make sure the negro's in our tiny market of Prince George continue to support HMT vendors. As you all add to this forum.

This is a crappy situation. You have a site that "originally" was focused on helping the community, then they started getting more and more strict with the rules, started advertisements...which was cool when the prices were decent, but now their SOLE purpose is to make money. The site is going to the *******.
