Default help..rear strut/spring install

hey everybody. I bought a set of H&R sports and tokico blues for my 89 crx si. we got the fronts in easily, but now in the back, we can't get the strut/spring assembly out of there. the hayne's manual said to just move the whole thing down and pop it out, but we couldn't move it down far enough, even when we jumped on top of the drum brake. there is a bolt holding the arm on there, but it was stripped and we could not get it off. any thoughts on what to do? my friend was no help, on his 89 civic he cut the arms off and bought new ones!

LOL, you need to remove the bottom control arm bolt 14mm, and the bottom strut mount bolt (obviously) and the side arm 14mm bolt. Or if thats fucked up you can take the 2 14mm bolts off the body.

Buy me dinner and I will come to your hose and get them out :P

heh. we kinda burned that bridge with the bolt at the bottom. it's totally stripped, and completely frozen in place. next time it's up on jackstands I'll try the one that connects to the body. my dad said he could show me how to use easy outs so maybe that will work.

no dinner for you!

If you can not get that ****** out, let me know, I can take it to my work and do everything on the lift... But that might cost you dinner and lunch

My 89 si was a complete ------- bastard, I had to use the air hammer for about 10 mins on it to get that little **** out!

the rear shocks in mine sucked too. but the came out easy, the nut on the top of the shock was fucked up/rusted/stuck..soo i went to pull-a-part snagged two 'hats' and worked great. it was a trick getting them back in, had to stand on the drum to get the control arm down far enough to put the shock threw. now the ------ shock is blown, need to do it again...
