ARC or MIG would do the trick if this was on any other application.. like I mentioned about the siezed freeze plugs on old v8s.

The thing that bothers me is the aluminum factor of the body.. I would have to play with a trashed unit first before I would honestly recommend him to do it.

Yeah.. i'm not even going to try to weld it. With my limited skills and the cost of a new tranny if I ---- up the housing... (5-speed ZF BMW M3 tranny--ouch) I'm just going to pull the tranny and drill the bolt.

To answer your question Jeff there is a fair ammount of room to get an air chisel in there; here's what it looks like:

I have a compressor but not a chisel; I might try your air chisel idea before I drop the tranny...

man just pull it and do it right...thats an expensive head ache if anything goes wrong-goodluck and post some more pictures of that monster

just an off the wall Idea but is it possible that maybe it's reverse threaded?
