Default HDMI cable?

I just got an HD DVD player from best buy for 99 bucks (open box plus it came with a rebate for 5 free hd dvd's so im pumped)...but the HDMI cables were big $$$. I see them on ebay for peanuts, but I wonder if the quality is even remotely decent. Anybody have any luck with something like this ?: http://cgi.ebay.com/6-FT-HDMI-to-HDM...QQcmdZViewItem

edit: i just saw that walmart has them for 20...i wonder if it will still have a comparable picture to those 100 dollar ones at best buy

Anyways for HDMI cables, all are the same. It's a digital cable, so as long as it transmits the signal then it is as good as any other HDMI cable. Gold plated is a waste when you have a solely digital connection, it doesn't make it any better.

I get mine from www.firefold.com and www.monoprice.com they can't be beat.
sweet ill check that out...anyways I figure even though blu-ray will win i still got a deal. I was originally just going to get a new regular dvd player because mine sucks ***, I couldnt pass this one up since it upconverts my regular ---- too

HDMI cables are getting cheap. You can pick up 6' cables for like $4-6 online now. Monoprice is the best place to go for no BS shopping but check Amazon.com real quickly, every once in a while they have solid deals. One thing with HDMI cables is they are digiital. This means they either work or don't work. Considering cable durability isn't really a big deal, all HDMI cables are exactly the same. $5 vs $100, picture/sound quality will be identical. The only difference may lie in the actual build quality and durability, but if you get a working cable the picture will be just as good as a Monster Cable that cost $100.

As for HD-DVD, waste of money kind of. I wouldn't expect people to put too many more out as Blu-Ray won the format war.
