Blu ray will fail, why you ask, sony wont let the **** industry produce movies on bluray,

another reason hddvd is better is that the production method is very similar to standard dvd, alot of the same machines can be used just have to be adpated, but bluray on the other hand is a totally different production method.

so yea i think that hddvd will be the standard, but you never know.

blu-ray will not fail... and to produce bluray disk approved by sony that only goes for the ps3, otherwise you can make em at your own will otherwise there wouldnt be blu-ray disk burners on the market since it was introduced... you think everyone would pay sony 10% of profits to make a movie? hell no.
The reason **** is made on dvd's is because its low cost and more profit to be made... no one needs high quaility **** to rub one out... when you have a high quaility monitor right in front of you.

as far quality goes, blu-ray dominates.. the simple reason? more room for data.. 25 gigs compared to 4.7g/8g of an hd dvd. more room for data = more room for quaility.

if you're not watching in a full 1080-P then theres no point in an hd-dvd player or blue ray you won't see any difference. hd-dvd players usually have a 720p setting also so you could get good quailty but still not the highest availible.

as far as tv's go: for gaming: DLP or LCD HDTV - for movies: Plasma - Reason: if you use a plasma for gaming and the image sits for too long you will burn an image into it ( like those old arcade games you see where you can still see the "insert coin" text )

hope this helps.

DLP's suck...ive seen them get burned.
and if u r too close they look to granny and kinda fuzzy. LCD projection (all sony projections some mitsus and such) are better if u get the 1080p versions since there is no screen door effect and ur bulbs last longer.
