They don't get paid that, it's just what they cost to the company with all the benefits.

I'm glad the workers got soooo many great benefits, but seriously I think it's BS. How many jobs offer the benefits they get? The unions are causing too much of a financial burden.

We have a Toyota factory here. Builds their Tacoma V6s and Tundra V8s. The workers get paid ~$18 and have good benefits. Not health care for life, but they get a good health care plan while they work there....you know, like a normal employer.

The people are happy, and Toyota doesn't need a bailout.

I apologize if I offend anyone, but domestic factory workers are seriously overpaid, and I blame the unions.

the reason toyota doesnt need a bailout is because they dont have 50 different models of the same cars and they actually make a quality vehicle. when people arent buying your ---- because it sucks thats why you need a bailout. the fact that the workers are a hige drain on thier finances doesnt help much either.

18 an hour is more than enough to live on in the midwest/south where all the factories are. Actually 18 an hour will be a nice paycheck anywhere.

GM sold more cars than toyota up until a few months ago.

your argument is not true and is really stupid.

If they were counting fleet sales then sure, non commercail sales though....not likely. Im sure a good hunk of the Genreals sales are thoguh fleet truck and car sales, taxi's, work trucks by any state or fed gov are going to be US... not teh average citizen.

Yeah, I guess GM employees costing more than twice as much as a Toyota employee would have no effect on their more-stable financial status.

Domestic people are overpaid due to unions. I'm not saying it's the main reason they're in their current situation, but it has to pay a big part. How many other companies sustain your health insurance and continue to pay you throughout your life? Government, yeah, but they print money.

toyota doesnt have 5 different brands with 50 diff models. why not compare chevy sales to toyota sales and cadillac to lexus. and also like econobox said their commercial stuff it what probably keeps them in business. i wasnt talking 10 years ago i was talking about the last year and how toyota was starting to sell more.

its not a stupid arguement. are you gonna tell me toyota overall vehicle quality isnt better then GM? well im sure you will argue that but youre wrong and anyone who has drivent both will agree.
