Grinding the trannies : P

Re: Grinding the trannies : P
I have a 95 gsr tranny that throws it self out of gear at anythign below 5k I and will just grind when you try to put it in below that rpm. You can hold it in gear let the clutch out and it will just grind the whole time. anybody know if that would be a synchro or a shift fork freakin 3rd gear anyways.

Re: Grinding the trannies : P
if the synchros are gone that means you cant drive and it means your sliding clutch and clutching teeth on the gear should need replaced too. just putting sychros in is never a solution the whole broken fork scenario is easy to diagnose by slowly moving the shifter and having it go in without grinding apposed to shifting normal and having it grind. 3rd gear is the problem area with non drivers , i havent ruined a synchro ever or clutching teeth though i have raked second gear off entirely in a honda tranny. they are easy trannies to rebuild if you have mechanical experience , my only suggestion would be to get a printout on the assembly before you start and if you dont know how to diagnose a bad gear take it to an expert and make sure all the gears are ok.
