Get a Honda Dan. You'll thank yourself. Make it 5 spd this time though. A Mustang, Eclipse, and a Civic all around the same year and mileage went in order as listed for the estimated prices 12g, 16g, 14g. They were all about 2000s. Imports around here costs soooooo much. I'm just south of Sinister so the same goes here on the rape for import cars.
My 98 Civic EX with 77,7XX miles (very clean car though, very, always get compliments on how "clean" it is) was sticker at $9,995 and it came from an auction and was going back if it didn't sell. We bought it for $7,995.

i got my pruple civic for $1200- it was in pretty shitty shape though. my buddy...he got a nice 4g hatch, bone stock for $1100 in an area that has high priced hondas. you just gotta wait for the right deal.
